MIWE makes
baking simple
Michael Wenz founded
the MIWE Company in his home town in Arnstein, Germany in 1919.
After the Second World War, he set forth his efforts in the oven
industry. In 1951 his son, Edgar Michael Wenz joined the business and
from that point on in time, the company entered a phase of rapid
development with special emphasis placed on technological innovations
such as the introduction of the roll-in rack oven to Central Europe and
the idea of baking bread on the shop premises to allow the aroma of
freshly-baked bread to entice the customer. In the meantime, in-shop
baking has become extremely popular.
MIWE oven installations can be found throughout Germany and all
of Europe. In fact MIWE bakes on all five continents. MIWE
is a leader in several sectors in the international baking business in
which the company has made a name for itself. |

Industry Associations |
 |
Australian Society
of Baking A.S.B.
The Australian
Society of Baking (A.S.B.) was founded in 1970 by Sydney Packham and a
group of bakers and allied traders, some of whom had attended meetings
of the American Society of Bakery Engineers in the United States. They
decided there was scope to set up an organisation along similar lines in
Australia. The ASB was first constituted as the Australian Chapter
Affiliate of the American Society, before simplifying its name in 1979
to the Australian Society of Baking. It retains its links with both the
American Society of Baking and the British Society of Baking. The
societies exchange publications and information, and can offer more
direct help to one another's members by way of organising bakery visits
and work experience. The primary purpose of the Australian Society of
Baking is to provide a forum for learning more about the industry
through meetings and seminars. |
